NICKIE
Nickie is a Boston Terrier

March 10, 1997 – January 7, 2008

Nickie spent the first year and ½ of his life with  Kim and her family in Barington IL. He belonged to Kimberly and she had named him Mickey. (AKC NM724498/01) They got him as a puppy, and watched him grow big, over 40 pounds, and that is almost 4 times a big a most Boston Terriers. He was just too much for them to control, and was not a good companion for their older dog; they contacted Boston Terrier Club of America to find someone to take him.

When we brought him to live with us we called him Nickie. He had several other names that were used to describe him, mostly by Rose. (Fat Boy, Upside-down Frog, Horsy Boy, Heat hog, and O Gross!)

Nickie became a wonderful companion, he encouraged us to walk more, enjoyed travel and camping. He also thought he was a lap dog. And always snuggled up in bed while Chuck read before going to his own bed for the night.

The name Heat Hog was used often, as he got cold easily. He would lie in front of the heat register as soon as he heard the thermostat click on the heat. The same was true in our camper, hogged all the heat from the furnace. He also did not like the rain! He was more then happy to put up with wearing his yellow raincoat.

When Nickie met anyone, he was more then friendly! He always tried to show how happy he was to meet them by jumping up and giving them a big wet doggie kiss! He was especially fond of Becky who often was at the post office when he was, she would always take time to stop and talk to him.

When walking to the post office, there were always several people that would wave from their office window. Or if they could They would stop to say hi to him.

Nickie seemed to age fast, turning gray, diminished hearing and cataracts by the age of 8. He finally lost the fight to a tumor that caused his pancreas to stop functioning and left us on January 7, 2008. We appreciate the effort by Dr Karol Vorel and the kind words from Chris "The good ones always leave too soon, and Nickie was a good one"

He was Chucks best buddy, and He is greatly missed.
