PEEWEE August of 2003 (as a guess) Peewee who is now referred to as The Kat, was a stray kitten found in Pentwater State Park, in Michigan. We were camping there with another couple around late September 2003. The other couple heard a kitten meowing up in the sand dune behind their tent. They tried to find it, and left some milk. The next morning they heard the meowing from under the hood of their van. Looking in and under the van did not produce a kitten. Starting it up and moving the van did not scare her out. Finally it was time to leave and hopefully the kitten had left, but she had not. After driving a short distance they again heard the sounds of a cat! They pulled to the side of the road and look in and under again, without success. There was nothing they could do but continue on. Then as they were on the entrance ramp to the expressway, they saw in the mirror, a black ball of fur rolled out the back! They quickly stopped, and cornered a small black and white kitten with a melted whisker, and a small burn on her face. They already had two cats, so they prevailed on us to take her. We did, and she now owns us. She has her own room at night, a heated bed in the living room, her own window perch, and thinks the back of the love seat is hers too. She played a lot with Nickie and now tries to get Muffin to play. She is a good cat, sitting on Chuck’s lap at her convenience, and begging food from Rose. Her name Peewee was derived from where she was found, Pentwater, or as the boat people call it Pwater, and that translates to Peewee. In May 2008 Peewee went on a camping vacation. She seems to have gotten over the loss of her playmate Nickie, and now pesters and plays with Cooper.
